JO BOWLES

Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy Counsellor

As a Certified Counsellor with Hakomi-informed Somatic Psychotherapy training, I offer a supportive, compassionate space for people who are used to relying on thinking to navigate their lives.

Many are used to coping well on the outside yet sense they are living mostly in their heads and have lost touch with what they feel in their body.

Often, they have thought their situation through from every angle, yet something remains unresolved.

Through my practice, The Embodied Path, I work gently and collaboratively at a pace that allows awareness to unfold.

I came to this work after many years in high-pressure corporate environments, and a growing respect for the quiet inner signals that do not respond to pushing or striving.

What is Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy?

Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychotherapy is a gentle, mindfulness-based form of therapy that works directly with present moment experience.

Alongside conversation, we pay attention to what is happening in the body, including sensations, emotions, impulses, and subtle reactions.

This is one of the ways it differs from purely talk-based approaches. The body is treated as a source of information, helping us discover patterns and beliefs that often sit outside conscious awareness.

We move slowly and with care. Instead of trying to fix or force change, we begin by meeting your experience as it is. From here, something can begin to shift.

No prior mindfulness experience is needed. Only a willingness to explore.
